Fri Dec 13 10:02:08 UTC 2024: ## Rahane’s Stellar Knock Leads Mumbai to Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Final
**Bengaluru, December 13, 2024:** Veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane continued his impressive resurgence, leading Mumbai to a convincing six-wicket victory over Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy semi-final. Rahane, playing as an opener, smashed a magnificent 98 runs, narrowly missing out on a century. His knock, studded with 11 fours and five sixes, was instrumental in Mumbai chasing down Baroda’s 158/7 with 16 balls and four wickets to spare.
This was Rahane’s fifth half-century in seven innings of the tournament, propelling him to the top of the tournament’s run-scorers list. Captain Shreyas Iyer also contributed significantly, scoring a quick-fire 46 off 30 balls. The pair shared an 88-run partnership for the second wicket, laying the foundation for Mumbai’s victory.
Baroda’s innings was anchored by Shivalik Sharma’s unbeaten 36 and contributions from Shashwat Rawat (33), Krunal Pandya (30), and Athit Seth (22). However, their total proved insufficient against Mumbai’s powerful batting lineup.
Mumbai’s bowling attack was effective, with Suryansh Shedge taking two wickets for 11 runs. Mohit Awasthi, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, and Ankolekar each claimed a wicket.
Mumbai will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Madhya Pradesh and Delhi in the final on Sunday. Rahane’s performance further solidifies his return to form after being dropped from the Indian national team. His consistent display in domestic cricket is a testament to his enduring talent and unwavering dedication.
