Fri Dec 13 10:43:27 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Storms into Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Final
**Bengaluru:** Mumbai secured their place in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament after a convincing six-wicket victory over Baroda in the semi-final. Ajinkya Rahane’s explosive 98 off 56 balls, studded with 11 fours and five sixes, spearheaded Mumbai’s chase. Though he fell just short of a century, one run away from reaching the milestone, his innings laid the foundation for victory.
Baroda, batting first, managed 157/7 in their 20 overs. Shivalik Sharma top-scored for Baroda with an unbeaten 36. Mumbai’s chase wasn’t without its hiccups. While captain Shreyas Iyer contributed a solid 46 off 30 balls, Prithvi Shaw’s disappointing 8 off 9 deliveries raised concerns. Suryakumar Yadav’s brief, yet impactful, stay at the crease, including a six off the first ball he faced, along with a stunning final six to seal the win by Suryansh Shedge, added to the excitement.
Hardik Pandya took one wicket for Baroda, giving away 29 runs. For Mumbai, Suryansh Shedge impressed with figures of 2/11 in two overs, while Shardul Thakur, Mohit Avasty, and Tanush Kodian took a wicket each.
Mumbai will face the winner of the second semi-final between Delhi and Madhya Pradesh in the final on Sunday.
