**Dindigul, Tamil Nadu:** A devastating fire at City Hospital in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, has claimed the lives of seven people, including a three-year-old child. The fire, which broke out around 11:30 PM last night on the ground floor of the four-story building, quickly spread, trapping patients and staff. While all patients were eventually rescued, three women are among the deceased.
Rescue efforts, which included extricating individuals trapped in a lift, took several hours. Three individuals remain in critical condition with severe burns, and a further 28 sustained burn injuries and are receiving treatment at various hospitals.
Initial investigations suggest a short circuit may have caused the blaze, though the exact cause is still under investigation.
