Fri Dec 13 08:06:35 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Triumphs Over Vidarbha in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Quarterfinal

**Bengaluru, December 12:** Prithvi Shaw roared back to form with a blistering 49-run knock, propelling Mumbai to a convincing six-wicket victory over Vidarbha in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarterfinal clash at the Alur Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Shaw’s explosive innings, which included four sixes and five fours, came off just 26 balls and laid the foundation for Mumbai’s successful chase of 222.

The young opener, who went unsold in the recent IPL auction, showcased his power-hitting prowess, particularly in the powerplay, narrowly missing a half-century. His partnership with Ajinkya Rahane (84 runs off 45 balls), an 83-run opening stand off just 42 balls, set the tone for Mumbai’s chase. This was Shaw’s first score above 40 in the tournament, a significant turnaround after scoring only 130 runs in his previous six innings.

While captain Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav departed early, Rahane anchored the innings with a stylish knock studded with three sixes and ten fours. Shivam Dube (37*) and Suryansh Shedge (36*) ensured a comfortable finish, guiding Mumbai to victory with 19.2 overs to spare.

Vidarbha, batting first, had posted a challenging 221 thanks to Atharva Taide’s classy 66, Apurv Wankhade’s whirlwind 51, and Shubhman Dube’s unbeaten 43 off 19 balls. Atharva Ankolkar and Suryansh Shedge took two wickets each for Mumbai. The win sends Mumbai into the semi-finals of the domestic T20 tournament.
