Wed Dec 11 16:27:36 UTC 2024: ## Two Tourists Killed by Falling Tree at Bali’s Monkey Forest

**Ubud, Bali –** Two tourists, one French and one South Korean, tragically died on Tuesday after a large tree fell on them at the popular Ubud Monkey Forest. The incident, captured on CCTV footage, occurred around midday during a period of strong winds and heavy rain. Videos show tourists scrambling to safety as the massive tree crashed down, covering a previously crowded path in debris.

Ubud Police Chief Commissioner Gusti Nyoman Subarsana confirmed that police swiftly initiated an evacuation, but unfortunately, the two victims were struck before it could be completed. Despite the efforts of emergency services and bystanders who rushed to help, the tourists were pronounced dead at the scene. The Bali Post reported that the tree’s fall was attributed to the severe weather conditions.

This incident follows a similar tragedy earlier this year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where a large tree falling onto a busy road killed a 47-year-old man and injured two others near the Petronas Twin Towers. The Monkey Forest incident underscores the dangers posed by extreme weather and highlights the need for enhanced safety measures at popular tourist destinations. Investigations into the cause of the tree fall are ongoing.
