**Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh:** A 22-year-old man, Farin Kinar, has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 12,000 for raping a minor girl in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The fine will be paid to the victim.
According to Superintendent of Police (City) Bareilly Manush Pareek, Kinar initially claimed to be a female transgender. However, a medical examination at the SGPGI Lucknow, ordered by the court, confirmed he is biologically male.
The crime occurred in August 2022 in the Mirganj area. Kinar allegedly lured the victim under the pretense of watching television before committing the rape. He subsequently threatened the victim to prevent her from reporting the incident.
Special Judge POCSO Court-3 Umashankar Khar found Kinar guilty on Monday, basing the verdict on the medical examination report and witness testimonies. Kinar’s defense attorney argued that his client’s transgender identity prevented him from committing the rape, a claim rejected by the court. The sentence was handed down after careful consideration of the evidence presented.
