Wed Dec 11 18:20:05 UTC 2024: ## Mokshada Ekadashi 2024: Vrat Parana on December 12th
**NEW DELHI** – Devotees observing the Mokshada Ekadashi fast will break their observance on December 12th, 2024. This auspicious day, considered significant for achieving salvation (moksha), is observed in the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the Margashirsha month.
According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna imparted the Bhagavad Gita’s teachings on this day. Observances include worshipping Lord Damodar with offerings of incense, lamps, and food. The worship of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is believed to bring prosperity. Listening to or reading the Mokshada Ekadashi Vrat Katha is considered equivalent to performing a Vaypeyajna Yagna.
The Vrat Parana (breaking of the fast) will take place between 7:05 AM and 9:09 AM on December 12th, 2024. The Dwadashi Tithi (twelfth lunar day) concludes at 10:26 PM on the same day.
The ritual involves bathing, wearing clean clothes, and then preferably yellow clothes, before offering prayers to Lord Krishna with yellow flowers, Panchamrut (a mixture of five nectars), and Tulsi leaves. Reciting Krishna mantras or the Bhagavad Gita is also recommended. Donating food and gifts to Brahmins is considered auspicious. While rice consumption is avoided during the fast, it is customary to consume rice after breaking the fast.
