**Bengaluru, December 11, 2024** – Room to Read India, in partnership with the Epsilon Foundation and the Karnataka Department of School Education and Literacy, celebrated a significant milestone in promoting children’s literacy in the state. A December 10th event highlighted the achievements of a project launched in 2023 aimed at fostering a reading culture among Karnataka’s children.
The event showcased the unveiling of 15 newly published Kannada storybooks, authored by government school teachers. These books uniquely integrate math, science, and environmental themes into engaging narratives. Thirteen of the teacher-authors were recognized for their contributions.
Furthermore, a new online Kannada course, “Child-Friendly Libraries,” was launched to equip educators with the skills to establish vibrant libraries in over 40,000 schools across Karnataka. The initiative aims to significantly improve access to books and reading materials for children throughout the state.
