Tue Dec 10 15:50:30 UTC 2024: **ICC Bans US National Cricket League Over Multiple Rule Violations**
NEW YORK – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned the United States National Cricket League, a T10 league featuring prominent players like Sachin Tendulkar and Wasim Akram. The ban stems from multiple rule violations, including a breach of regulations regarding the number of overseas players allowed in a team. The league, which included several Indian players such as Robin Uthappa, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik and Shahid Afridi, consistently fielded six to seven foreign players, contravening the rule mandating at least seven American players per team.
Further violations included the use of substandard pitches deemed unfit for play and, in some cases, forcing fast bowlers to bowl spin due to unplayable surfaces. While the playing XI itself did not violate regulations, the cumulative breaches of other rules led to the ICC’s decision. The ICC issued a written notice to United States of America Cricket (USAC), effectively halting the upcoming season. The ban marks a significant setback for the burgeoning US cricket scene. Last season’s winning team, captained by Robin Uthappa and presented the trophy by Sachin Tendulkar, is among those impacted by the ICC decision.
