Tue Dec 10 16:33:43 UTC 2024: ## UPSC Announces Civil Services Mains Exam Results; 2,845 Clear to Next Stage
**New Delhi, December 9, 2024** – The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today released the results for the 2024 Civil Services (Mains) Examination. A total of 2,845 candidates have successfully cleared the mains examination and will proceed to the personality test (interview) stage. The results are available on the official UPSC websites: upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in.
The Mains examination, held over five days from September 20th to 29th, followed the preliminary examination conducted on June 16th. Over 13.4 lakh candidates initially sat for the preliminary exam, with 14,625 clearing that stage.
Successful candidates will compete for over 1,000 vacancies across various prestigious services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
Those who cleared the Mains are required to fill and submit their Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II) between December 13th and 19th. Candidates claiming reservation benefits must also submit supporting original certificates.
The UPSC further announced that the marksheets for the Mains examination will be available on the Commission’s website within 15 days of the final result announcement (following the interviews). These marksheets will remain accessible for 30 days. Dates for the personality tests will be announced separately. The interviews are typically held at the UPSC office in New Delhi. Candidates experiencing difficulties downloading their e-Summon Letters are advised to contact the Commission directly.
This year’s results follow a trend highlighted in a recent parliamentary report, which expressed concern over the increasing number of doctors and engineers entering the civil service, and a simultaneous decline in humanities candidates.
