**Kolkata, December 9, 2024** – Two Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers were killed in separate incidents in West Bengal on Sunday night, sparking outrage and protests.
In Nandigram, Purba Medinipur district, Bishnupada Mondal was stabbed to death following clashes during cooperative elections. His family and fellow TMC members accuse BJP workers of the attack, claiming Mondal was killed after objecting to their abusive language. One arrest has been made following a police complaint filed by Mondal’s wife. TMC workers blocked roads in protest. BJP leaders deny involvement, attributing the murder to internal TMC rivalry.
Separately, in Kulpi, South 24 Parganas, panchayat ward member Nuruddin Halder was stabbed and shot dead by an unidentified gang. While local TMC MLA Yogarajan Halder suggests the murder stemmed from local disputes, speculation links it to the previous murder of Congress leader Alfazuddin Halder. Two arrests have been made in this case as well. Police investigations are ongoing in both incidents.
