Tue Dec 10 05:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana to Enact New RoR Act, Improve Dharani Portal
**Hyderabad, [Date]:** Telangana’s Revenue and Housing Minister, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, announced the state government’s plan to pass a new Registration of Rights (RoR) Act of 2024 during the ongoing Assembly session. The minister stated that the new legislation aims to rectify shortcomings in the existing system, addressing concerns raised by the public and streamlining processes.
Reddy held a press conference on Sunday to discuss the progress of his departments over the past year. He highlighted the improvements being made to the Dharani portal and app, acknowledging previous public dissatisfaction. The government, he said, has consulted experts and made changes, including assigning responsibility for resolving Dharani applications to Tahsildars, RDOs, Special Collectors (Revenue), Collectors, and CCLAs. Over 4.95 lakh applications have already been resolved, he added.
The minister further revealed that a new, improved Dharani portal with 11-13 columns is being developed, alongside a new app. This app will integrate information from various departments, including Revenue, Waqf, Endowments, and Forests, providing a comprehensive database of land records. The government also plans to recruit an additional 1,000 surveyors and revamp the village revenue system by Sankranti.
Reddy refuted claims of reduced property registrations and revenue, asserting that income has actually increased in the past four months compared to the previous year. He also announced plans to construct modern sub-registrar offices using CSR funds.
Regarding the Indira Awaas Yojana, the minister explained that a new app will be used to collect data for housing beneficiaries, facilitating the construction of a large number of houses in the coming four years and ensuring transparency in selecting beneficiaries for the second phase. The state government is committed to utilizing central funds for housing and will ensure disbursement even if central regulations pose challenges. Finally, the minister promised the completion of pending works on 35,000 double-bedroom houses within one or two months.
