**New Delhi, December 10, 2024** – A Delhi court extended the interim bail of Abhishek Gupta, CEO of Rau’s IAS Study Circle, until January 31, 2025. Gupta, along with Deshpal Singh, the institute’s coordinator, faces charges related to the drowning deaths of three civil services aspirants in July. The students perished after rainwater flooded the institute’s basement, which was being used as a library and exam hall.

The Rouse Avenue court’s decision follows the filing of a chargesheet by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The chargesheet alleges that Gupta and Singh were aware of the basement’s vulnerability to flooding but allowed students to study there for extended periods. The court noted that the accused were responsible for the institute’s day-to-day operations and knew the basement was unsuitable for its intended use.

This bail extension comes after the Delhi High Court previously granted bail to four co-owners of the basement. Another court also recently took cognizance of the CBI’s chargesheet. The investigation into the tragic incident continues.
