Tue Dec 10 11:08:12 UTC 2024: ## Congress Rejects BJP’s Soros Allegations, Accuses Ruling Party of Distraction
**New Delhi, December 10, 2024** – Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today vehemently dismissed BJP allegations linking former Congress president Sonia Gandhi to billionaire George Soros. Calling the claims “ridiculous” and lacking evidence, Gandhi stated the BJP was deliberately raising a 1994 matter to avoid parliamentary debate on the Adani controversy.
The BJP, in a series of social media posts, alleged a connection between Sonia Gandhi, through her association with the Forum of Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, and the George Soros Foundation. They claimed this indicated foreign influence in Indian affairs.
However, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari echoed Priyanka Gandhi’s dismissal, calling the allegations “baseless” and a “cheap” tactic. The accusations sparked uproar in the Rajya Sabha, with Opposition MPs protesting and accusing the BJP of attempting to deflect attention from the ongoing Adani Group investigation.
The Congress maintains the BJP’s claims are a deliberate distraction, aimed at preventing a much-needed discussion on the Adani matter currently dominating political discourse. The party firmly denies any links between Sonia Gandhi and George Soros beyond the alleged association with FDL-AP Foundation, a connection the Congress has not confirmed or denied.
