Tue Dec 10 10:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Two-Alarm Fire Destroys Manchester Home; One Escapes Safely
**Manchester, NH** – A two-alarm fire completely destroyed a two-family home on the corner of Notre Dame Avenue and Putnam Street in Manchester Monday morning. One person, a tenant on the first floor, escaped the blaze unharmed.
The fire, which broke out around 7:15 a.m., was reported by the first-floor tenant to the homeowners, Hilary and Marc Laquerre. Flames were seen shooting from the second-story windows, and firefighters described the fire as concentrated in the attic and knee walls, presenting a significant challenge. A two-alarm response was initiated, requiring all available firefighters.
The Laquerres, who purchased the property two months ago and were nearing completion of renovations to prepare it for rental, described the situation as “surreal.” The upstairs apartment was vacant at the time of the fire. Firefighters confirmed the home is a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Streets surrounding the home, near Catholic Medical Center, were temporarily closed while crews battled the blaze.
