**PATNA, INDIA** – Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav has thrown his support behind West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to lead the INDIA opposition bloc, asserting that any reservations from the Congress would be inconsequential. His statement follows Banerjee’s recent declaration of her willingness to take the helm of the anti-BJP coalition.

Yadav’s endorsement comes days after Banerjee publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the bloc’s current functioning and her desire to lead it, even while maintaining her role as Chief Minister. While his son, Tejashwi Yadav, previously stated a preference for consensus within the bloc, Lalu Yadav firmly declared that Banerjee should be allowed to lead, regardless of Congress’s stance.

Banerjee’s call for leadership came after she reportedly voiced concerns about the INDIA bloc’s effectiveness. She previously stated she could manage both roles effectively.

Meanwhile, Yadav also commented on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s upcoming statewide yatra, dismissing it as a mere publicity stunt and confidently predicting an RJD-led coalition government in Bihar in 2025.
