**BELAGAVI, December 10, 2024** – Karnataka Law Minister H. K. Patil has urged the state government to erect a statue of former Chief Minister S. M. Krishna at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. The appeal was made during a tribute to Mr. Krishna at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on Tuesday. Minister Patil, who served under Mr. Krishna as Irrigation Minister, highlighted the late leader’s significant contributions to Karnataka’s development, particularly the completion of the Upper Krishna Project and the Almatti reservoir. He further suggested a second memorial be constructed near the project itself. Mr. Krishna will be cremated with full state honours in his village in Mandya district on December 11.
