Tue Dec 10 14:07:49 UTC 2024: ## GDIT First Systems Integrator to Join NIST’s Post-Quantum Cryptography Consortium
**Washington, D.C. –** General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) announced Monday that it has become the first systems integrator to join the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) post-quantum cryptography (PQC) consortium. This move signifies a significant step towards bolstering national cybersecurity against the threat of quantum computing.
Quantum computers, poised to drastically outperform current technology, pose a serious risk to existing encryption methods. GDIT, leveraging its expertise in managing large-scale cryptographic systems and its “Tidal PQC Digital Accelerator” solution, will collaborate with government agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions to accelerate the adoption of quantum-resistant cryptography.
The company will contribute its experience and resources to align industry practices with NIST’s PQC standards. This includes working with agencies like the Office of Management and Budget, Department of Defense, National Security Agency, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to implement and interpret PQC guidance for federal organizations.
“The urgency of securing sensitive digital data has never been greater,” stated Ben Gianni, GDIT’s senior vice president and chief technology officer. He emphasized the immediate need for migration to post-quantum cryptography to protect against future decryption of sensitive data by quantum computers. GDIT’s participation in the consortium underscores its commitment to developing and deploying innovative, quantum-safe solutions.
