**Mysore, Karnataka –** S. Jayanna, a former MLA representing Kollegal and chairman of the Karnataka State Warehousing Corporation, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 72 due to a heart attack. Mr. Jayanna, who was a bachelor, had been unwell for some time.
A two-time MLA, Mr. Jayanna served Kollegal once as a Janata Dal candidate (1994) and again as a Congress candidate (2013). He was a close confidante of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who expressed his shock and grief at the news. The Chief Minister noted Mr. Jayanna’s dedication to the Congress party and his constituency, calling his passing a loss for society. The death comes just days before the planned opening ceremony of Mr. Jayanna’s house in Kollegal, where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had recently unveiled a plaque.
