Rutherford’s innings, which included eight sixes and seven fours, was crucial in chasing down Bangladesh’s 294 for six. He overcame a shaky start, including two helmet blows from Taskin Ahmed’s hostile bowling, to anchor a crucial 99-run partnership with captain Shai Hope (86). This century marks Rutherford’s fifth consecutive score of over 50 in ODIs, a feat achieved by only three other West Indians previously.
In just 10 ODIs, Rutherford boasts an impressive average of 73.83, accumulating 443 runs. He attributed his success to maintaining focus after the early setbacks, stating that the helmet blows actually helped him concentrate.
