Tue Dec 10 15:28:01 UTC 2024: **Brazilian President Lula Undergoes Successful Brain Surgery, Expected to Recover Fully**

SAO PAULO, Brazil – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva underwent successful emergency surgery on Tuesday night for an intracranial hemorrhage at the Hospital Sirio-Libanes in Sao Paulo. The 79-year-old president, who experienced headaches linked to a fall in October, is now in stable condition, according to his medical team.

Doctors performed a trepanation, relieving pressure caused by bleeding between the brain and the dura mater membrane on the left side of his head. They reported that neurological functions were preserved and no after-effects are expected.

While President Lula is currently in the intensive care unit and will remain under observation for the next few days, his doctors confirmed he is conscious, talking normally, and eating. He is expected to be released and return to Brasilia early next week.

In the meantime, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin will assume presidential duties in Brasilia, including a scheduled meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The president’s spokesperson emphasized that Lula is in stable and calm condition. The successful surgery assures the nation of a full recovery for their leader.
