Tue Dec 10 12:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Rajinikanth to Launch Trailer for ‘Alanku’, a Film Highlighting the Dangers of Illegal Dumping

**Chennai, India –** A new Tamil action-thriller, “Alanku,” will shed light on the severe consequences of illegal dumping along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. The film, directed by S.P. Shaktivel (known for “Urumeen” and “Payanigal Kavnikkavum”), focuses on the lives of tribal people who migrate for work and the impact of environmental hazards on their community. The illegal dumping, depicted in the film, includes medical waste and animal carcasses.

Gununanidhi plays the lead role, alongside Malayalam actor Chemban Vinod, Kali Venkat, Sarath Appani, and Sree Rekha. Notably, a dog also plays a significant role in the film. Director Shaktivel highlighted the strong human-animal bond portrayed in the film and how it’s tested by the events unfolding due to the environmental crisis. Ninety-five percent of the film was shot in dense forest areas.

Produced by D. Sabarish and S.A. Sangamithra, “Alanku” is slated for release on December 27th. Adding to the anticipation, superstar Rajinikanth will launch the film’s trailer on his X (formerly Twitter) page at 5 PM today.
