**Mumbai, India** – A BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) bus ran amok in Kurla West, Mumbai, on Monday night, killing six people and injuring at least 24 others. Eyewitnesses reported the bus careened uncontrollably for approximately 200 meters, striking pedestrians, an auto-rickshaw, and three cars before coming to a stop.

Zaid Ahmed, a 26-year-old resident, described the scene: “I heard a loud crash and ran to the scene. The BEST bus had hit pedestrians, an auto-rickshaw, and several cars. I saw bodies on the ground. We rescued people from the auto-rickshaw and took them to Bhaba Hospital.” Other witnesses confirmed the bus, operating on Route 332 from Kurla to Andheri, also collided with a police vehicle.

The 12-meter electric bus, manufactured by Olectra and leased by BEST on a wet lease basis, was only three months old, according to the Taddeo Regional Transport Office (RTO). The driver was employed by the private operator who provides drivers for these leased vehicles. A BEST spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that details were being gathered.

CCTV footage of the incident has emerged, showing the bus careening wildly and dragging several people along with it. The aftermath was chaotic, with people fleeing and screaming for help. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
