**SRINAGAR/MUMBAI, INDIA –** Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, is facing a firestorm of criticism following a controversial social media post about Hinduism. Her remarks, made on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, sparked widespread condemnation from political leaders across India’s party spectrum, with many calling for her to seek psychiatric help.

Mufti later clarified that her post, which invoked Lord Ram, was intended to highlight hypocrisy among those who claim to uphold Ram Rajya (ideal Hindu rule) while engaging in brutality. However, this clarification did little to quell the outrage.

Others stressed the fundamental right to religious freedom while condemning Mufti’s statements as derogatory and inflammatory.
