Mon Dec 09 07:28:16 UTC 2024: ## Local Court Offers Traffic Ticket Amnesty, But With Exceptions

**New Delhi, [Date]** – A Lok Adalat (people’s court) will be held on December 14th, offering a chance for residents to settle outstanding traffic violations. The court will allow for the reduction or waiver of penalties for many traffic offenses, eliminating the need for lengthy court proceedings.

However, the amnesty program has limitations. While routine violations like red light jumping or failure to wear seatbelts will be considered, tickets resulting from accidents or criminal activity will not be addressed.

This exclusion includes cases involving accidents, regardless of severity, even minor fender benders. These cases often involve multiple infractions, potentially including reckless driving, driving under the influence, or speeding. The Lok Adalat will not handle cases where a death resulted from the accident; such cases carry significant penalties including jail time and fines.

The court emphasizes that only tickets stemming from unintentional traffic rule infractions are eligible for consideration. Tickets issued due to negligence or intentional violations will still require payment.
