**Wayanad, Kerala, December 9, 2024** – Shruti, a young woman who lost her entire family in the devastating Wayanad landslides in July and subsequently her fiancé in a road accident, has begun a new chapter in her life. On Monday, she joined the Kerala Revenue department as a clerk, fulfilling a government promise to provide her with a job.

Shruti’s family perished in the July 30th landslides that ravaged Chooralmala and Mundakkai villages. She was engaged to Jenson, who remained a steadfast support after the tragedy, but he tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in a September road accident. The couple’s engagement followed a ten-year courtship. Besides her family, Shruti also lost her home and significant personal possessions in the landslide.

Local political leaders accompanied Shruti to her new office, marking the beginning of her career. Speaking to reporters, Shruti expressed gratitude for the support she received and confirmed her intention to continue working despite ongoing health issues stemming from the recent accident. She stated, “Everyone supported me thoroughly. I am sincerely thankful.”

The Kerala Cabinet’s decision to offer Shruti a government position is seen as a compassionate response to her extraordinary loss and resilience. Her story has garnered widespread sympathy and admiration across the state.
