**NEW DELHI** – The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and mobile app experienced a significant outage on [Date of Outage], leaving thousands of users unable to access ticketing services. While IRCTC attributed the disruption to scheduled maintenance, users reported difficulties accessing the platform beginning around 10 AM. Downdetector reported that approximately 50% of users couldn’t access the website, with 40% experiencing app issues and 10% facing problems booking tickets.

The outage lasted for approximately one hour, causing widespread frustration among passengers trying to book tickets, check schedules, or manage existing bookings. Users reported issues logging in, searching for trains, and completing transactions. Social media platforms were flooded with complaints.

The disruption comes as Indian Railways is preparing to launch a new super app by December, aiming to consolidate various services into a single platform. This app, developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), will integrate with IRCTC’s existing systems.

Despite the outage, IRCTC announced separate plans for setting up a 400-tent city in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
