Mon Dec 09 10:48:31 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Assembly Elections Looming: EC to Release Voter List, Parties Gear Up for Contest

**New Delhi:** With the term of the current Delhi government ending in February 2025, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is preparing for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The ECI is expected to release the final voter list on January 6th, with the election schedule likely to be announced shortly thereafter. The last sitting of the Delhi Assembly concluded on December 5th.

The 2020 Delhi Assembly elections saw a landslide victory for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which won 62 out of 70 seats. The BJP won 8 seats, while the Congress drew a blank. This time around, all three major parties – AAP, BJP, and Congress – are preparing for a three-cornered contest. AAP has already announced 11 candidates, while the BJP has announced its constituency committees. The Congress has declared its intention to contest all 70 seats independently, ruling out any alliance with AAP.

The ECI’s release of the voter list marks a crucial step in the election process. The commission’s announcement is anticipated to be followed swiftly by the publication of the election schedule. The upcoming election is generating significant political buzz, with each party actively strategizing for a potential win.
