Mon Dec 09 09:49:28 UTC 2024: ## AAP Shifts Sisodia to Jangpura in Delhi Assembly Election Ticket Shuffle

**New Delhi, [Date]:** The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on Monday, sparking a significant change. Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who previously represented Patparganj, will now contest from Jangpura. Patparganj will instead be contested by Awadh Ojha, a recent AAP joinee.

Sisodia had won Patparganj in the three previous Assembly elections, though his margins narrowed in 2020 (70,163 votes to BJP’s 66,956 votes). AAP strategists believe that Sisodia’s recent imprisonment and subsequent limited time spent in his constituency could lead to anti-incumbency. Ojha’s strong following, particularly among voters from Uttar Pradesh and Purvanchal regions, was cited as a key factor in the decision.

The AAP views Jangpura as a safer option for Sisodia, given the party’s strong presence there. The incumbent MLA, Praveen Kumar, has been shifted to Janakpuri.

Sisodia expressed his gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal and the party, stating that he considers himself a teacher, not a politician, and sees his role as serving the people. He expressed confidence that he can continue his work of education, service, and development in Jangpura, mirroring his achievements in Patparganj. The move is seen as a calculated risk by AAP to ensure Sisodia’s victory, given the high-stakes nature of the upcoming election.
