Sun Dec 08 12:50:43 UTC 2024: ## Stray Dog Attack Leaves Toddler Injured in Mundargi
**Mundargi, Gadag:** A two-and-a-half-year-old boy, Rudresh Doddakale, was severely injured in a brutal attack by stray dogs near Ward No. 20, near a Darga in Mundargi town, Gadag district. The dogs mauled the toddler, causing lacerations to his head, face, and lip, and resulting in a broken tooth. Witnesses said the child’s cries alerted family members, who intervened before the attack escalated further.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who claim that this is just the latest in a series of attacks by the same pack of stray dogs. They allege that at least four or five people have been bitten in the past week and accuse municipal authorities of inaction despite repeated complaints.
Rudresh received initial treatment at Mundargi Taluk Hospital before being transferred to Gadag’s JIMS Hospital for further care. Enraged by the attack, locals retaliated by hunting down and killing one of the dogs involved.
Following media reports of the incident, municipal officials have launched a crackdown on stray dogs in the area. A joint operation involving municipal staff and residents has begun using nets to capture the stray dogs. The operation, which began Sunday afternoon, has already resulted in the capture of several dogs.
