Mon Dec 09 09:08:12 UTC 2024: **AAP Announces Second List of Delhi Assembly Candidates, Shifts Sisodia**

NEW DELHI, Dec 9, 2024 – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its second list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on Sunday. The list includes several significant changes, most notably the relocation of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Sisodia, previously representing Patparganj, will now contest from the Jangpura constituency. His former seat will be contested by Avadh Ojha, an educationist and popular YouTuber who recently joined the party.

The list also features Jitender Singh Shunty (Shahdara) and Surender Pal Singh Bittu (Timarpur), both recent BJP defectors. Shunty replaces incumbent AAP MLA and Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal, while Bittu replaces Dilip Pandey, the party’s chief whip in the Assembly.

The announcement reveals that 17 sitting MLAs have been denied tickets, while the sons of two MLAs who were not given tickets have received nominations. The list includes 17 new faces. Deepak Chawdhary, who lost in the previous election, has been given the Gandhi Nagar ticket. Other notable changes include the allocation of the Timarpur seat to Surender Pal Bittu and the nomination of Pradeep Singh Sahni, son of MLA Prahlad Singh Sahni, for Chandni Chowk. Vikas Bagga, son of MLA S.K. Bagga, will contest from Krishna Nagar.

The AAP had previously announced 11 candidates in its first list. The Delhi Assembly elections are expected to be held before February. The 70-member assembly will see a fierce contest between AAP and other parties.
