**Hyderabad, India** – Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa: The Rule” has taken the Indian box office by storm, raking in a staggering ₹400 crore (approximately $48 million USD) worldwide in just two days. The Telugu action drama, a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster “Pushpa: The Rise,” directed and written by Sukumar, has already surpassed the opening day collections of several major films including “RRR,” “Baahubali 2,” and “KGF 2.” In India alone, the film has grossed ₹265 crore in net earnings.
The film’s phenomenal success is attributed to the enthusiastic response from fans captivated by Arjun’s portrayal of Pushpa Raj, a now powerful red sandalwood smuggler. Theatres are packed with audiences eager to witness the sequel’s thrilling action and storyline. “Pushpa 2” has also emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan,” with a Hindi opening day collection of ₹72 crore. Occupancy rates have been impressively high across all dubbed versions, with Telugu reaching 53%, Hindi at 51.65%, and significant figures in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Despite the film’s triumph, a tragic incident marred the premiere, resulting in the death of a woman and serious injury to her son in a stampede. Allu Arjun has since donated ₹25 lakh to the family and expressed his condolences.
The phenomenal success of “Pushpa 2” makes it one of the biggest box office hits in recent Indian cinema history. However, this news comes alongside the unrelated report that the Supreme Court granted bail to eight convicts in the 1987 Hashimpura massacre case in Uttar Pradesh.
