Verstappen took the lead on the opening lap and maintained his position throughout the race, despite a chaotic midfield battle. The race was punctuated by a safety car period triggered by a collision involving several drivers and a stray wing mirror on the track. This safety car period, along with a series of incidents, created a tense and unpredictable race.
McLaren’s Lando Norris, winner of Saturday’s sprint race, faced a significant setback with a 10-second stop-and-go penalty for failing to slow sufficiently under yellow flags.
