Fri Dec 06 23:22:33 UTC 2024: ## India Storms into ACC Under-19 Asia Cup Final After Dominant Win Over Sri Lanka

**Sharjah, UAE:** India secured a resounding 7-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the semi-finals of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, setting up a final clash against defending champions Bangladesh. 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the youngest ever IPL pick, led the charge with a blistering 67 off 36 balls.

Sri Lanka, after winning the toss and electing to bat, managed a modest 173 in 46.2 overs. Sharujan Shanmuganathan (42) and Lakvin Abeysinghe (68) provided the backbone of their innings, but Ayush Mhatre’s off-spin proved crucial in breaking the partnership and triggering a late Sri Lankan collapse. Chetan Sharma’s early wickets also contributed significantly to Sri Lanka’s struggles.

In response, Suryavanshi’s explosive innings, punctuated by consecutive sixes, and a solid 91-run opening partnership with Mhatre, quickly dismantled the Sri Lankan bowling attack. Although Suryavanshi’s departure did not derail the chase, India comfortably reached their target with more than 28 overs remaining, thanks to a composed finish by captain Mohamed Amaan.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh secured their place in the final with a similar 7-wicket victory over Pakistan. Bangladesh bowlers, led by Maruf Mridha and Iqbal Hossain Emon (4 wickets), restricted Pakistan to a meager 116. Azizul Hakim’s unbeaten 61 steered Bangladesh to victory. The final will be a repeat of the 2023 final between India and Bangladesh.
