Fri Dec 06 16:46:20 UTC 2024: ## BJP Accuses US State Department, OCCRP of Anti-Modi Campaign

**NEW DELHI, December 7, 2024** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on Thursday, accusing the U.S. State Department and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) of orchestrating a campaign to destabilize India and target Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), the BJP claimed that the OCCRP, partially funded by the U.S. State Department’s USAID, provided material used by the Congress party to attack Modi and disrupt Parliament. The party cited Mediapart, a French investigative media group, as a source for this information. The BJP alleged that this constituted a “Deep State” agenda involving figures like George Soros and the Rockefeller Foundation.

The BJP highlighted several instances where, they claim, Congress used OCCRP reports to fuel attacks against the government, including the Adani Group controversy and the Pegasus spyware scandal. The party pointed to the timing of OCCRP reports, alleging they were strategically released to coincide with parliamentary sessions. They also cited Rahul Gandhi’s visits to the U.S. and U.K., and his statements on these issues, as evidence of a coordinated effort.

The BJP specifically mentioned a Financial Times article linking Gautam Adani to Modi, published before Congress launched its own attacks on the Adani Group. The party further alleged that Congress’s focus on the Adani issue and the Pegasus scandal, both drawing heavily on OCCRP reports, was part of a broader strategy to damage Modi’s image and destabilize the Indian government.

The BJP’s accusations have escalated tensions between the ruling party and the opposition, with the BJP calling for an investigation into the alleged foreign interference in Indian affairs. The Congress party is yet to respond to the BJP’s accusations.
