Fri Dec 06 23:11:01 UTC 2024: ## Cash Found Near Congress MP’s Rajya Sabha Seat Sparks Political Row

**New Delhi, Dec 6, 2024** – A bundle of 500 rupee notes found near the Rajya Sabha seat of Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi has ignited a heated debate in Parliament. The discovery led to a clash between BJP and Congress members, with accusations of a political conspiracy flying.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar ordered an inquiry into the incident after security personnel discovered the cash near seat number 222, assigned to Singhvi, following a routine check after Thursday’s adjournment. Dhankhar’s announcement of the inquiry, mentioning Singhvi’s name, sparked immediate outrage from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who questioned the propriety of naming the MP before the investigation’s conclusion.

BJP members, including JP Nadda, Piyush Goyal, and Kiren Rijiju, countered that the inquiry would reveal the truth and questioned the Congress’s apparent anxiety. Congress members, however, suggested a possible conspiracy against their party.

Singhvi himself took to X (formerly Twitter) to deny any knowledge of the cash, stating he was in the Rajya Sabha canteen until 1:30 PM on Thursday, shortly after the house adjourned at 1 PM, and had only a single 500 rupee note on his person. He arrived at the Rajya Sabha at 12:57 PM.

The inquiry will aim to determine how the cash reached Singhvi’s seat and whether its placement was intentional. The incident continues to fuel political tension within the Rajya Sabha.
