**Mumbai, December 6, 2024** – Lakhs of followers gathered at Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai today to commemorate the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, known as Mahaparinirvan Din. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects at Prerna Sthal in New Delhi earlier in the day.
In Mumbai, the event saw a large gathering at the 30-acre memorial where Dr. Ambedkar was cremated. Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan lauded Ambedkar’s contribution to India’s Constitution, highlighting its promotion of equality and fraternity. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the continuing relevance of Ambedkar’s vision in India’s governance. Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar reiterated their commitment to the welfare of marginalized communities.
The annual event also featured over 300 stalls selling books and merchandise, providing a platform for NGOs working with marginalized sections of society. Attendees described the day as an opportunity for community engagement and interaction with activists.
