Sat Dec 07 16:04:16 UTC 2024: ## Patna Police Deny Detaining Popular Educators Amidst BPSC Exam Protests

**PATNA, INDIA** – Police in Patna have denied detaining or arresting popular educators Faizal Khan (“Khan Sir”) and Motiur Rahman (“Guru Rahman”), who joined protests against the proposed normalization of marks in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination. The denial follows reports from a magistrate suggesting the educators had been taken away by police. While the educators themselves haven’t commented, the sub-divisional police officer, Anu Kumari, called the reports “baseless, misleading, and provocative.” Police did confirm the detention of several students participating in the protests.

The protests centered on the BPSC’s initial plan to implement a normalization process, similar to that used in NEET-UG, to adjust scores across different exam shifts. However, following escalating protests, the BPSC announced it would abandon normalization and conduct the December 13th preliminary exam in a single shift. Approximately 4.25 lakh students are expected to take the exam. Khan Sir and Guru Rahman, who operate prominent coaching centers, had actively participated in the demonstrations before the BPSC reversed its decision.
