**JAMMU, Dec 6:** Various political parties, social organizations, and educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir observed the 68th Mahaparinirvan Diwas, commemorating the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on December 6th, 2024.

Tributes poured in from diverse groups, including the All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the National Service Scheme (NSS), and the Navratna enterprise NHPC. Events ranged from wreath-laying ceremonies at statues and portraits of Dr. Ambedkar to interactive sessions focusing on his contributions to the Indian Constitution and social justice.

BSP leaders, including Jammu-Kashmir president Darshan Rana, paid homage, with a special program held in Akhnoor. The ABVP, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science at GCW Gandhi Nagar, organized an interactive session highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy. The BJP Kashmir unit also held a ceremony at its headquarters in Srinagar. Government College for Women Udhampur’s NSS unit emphasized social harmony, aligning with Dr. Ambedkar’s vision. NHPC paid tribute at its corporate office and across all its units. Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) observed the day with a message from the Vice Chancellor highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s pivotal role in shaping India’s democratic framework and his commitment to equality and justice. The widespread observance underscored the enduring relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals in contemporary India.
