Fri Dec 06 10:42:14 UTC 2024: ## BJP’s Kalidas Kolambkar Sworn in as Maharashtra’s Pro-Tem Speaker
**Mumbai, December 6:** Senior BJP MLA Kalidas Kolambkar was sworn in as the pro-tem speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today. The ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai, was conducted by Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan. Kolambkar, a nine-time MLA representing Wadala, will temporarily preside over the assembly.
In his role, Kolambkar will administer the oath of office to the 288 newly-elected MLAs and manage proceedings during the upcoming three-day special session beginning December 7th. A key part of his temporary duties includes overseeing the election of the permanent speaker on December 9th. This will be followed by a crucial confidence vote for the newly sworn-in Devendra Fadnavis-led Mahayuti government.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council Neelam Gorhe, and Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
