Sat Dec 07 12:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Boyle’s “28 Years Later” Poster Unveiled, Trailer Expected Soon

**New York, NY** – The 12th annual Scary Movies festival at Film at Lincoln Center showcased Ari Aster’s extended cut of “Midsommar” this past weekend. Meanwhile, news broke regarding Danny Boyle’s highly anticipated sequel, “28 Years Later.” A poster for the film has been released, fueling speculation of an imminent trailer release – possibly as early as next week.

The $75 million production, reportedly shot entirely on an iPhone 15, making it the most expensive smartphone-filmed movie ever, boasts a star-studded cast including Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Charlie Hunnam. Notably absent from the poster is Cillian Murphy, star of the original “28 Days Later,” who is rumored to have only a minor role in this installment. Murphy will also have a small role in the planned sequel, “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” directed by Nia DaCosta. A third film is in the works, with Murphy slated to take on a leading role.

Plot details have been shrouded in secrecy until now. Ralph Fiennes, in a recent interview with IndieWire, revealed that the film centers on a young boy navigating a post-apocalyptic Britain, 28 years into a devastating plague, as he searches for a doctor to help his dying mother. The boy’s journey takes him through the beautiful, yet perilous, landscape of northern England, constantly threatened by the infected.

Principal photography concluded in August, with cast and crew bound by strict NDAs. “28 Years Later” is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025.
