Fri Dec 06 23:09:39 UTC 2024: ## Birsa Project to Boost Coal Supply, Provide Jobs for Displaced People

**Urimari:** The Birsa Project management has agreed to significantly increase coal supply to the local sales depot, ensuring ample work for displaced residents. This decision follows negotiations between project management and representatives of the displaced community on Thursday at the Birsa Project office.

Displaced community leaders, including Dasee Manjhi, Dinesh Karamali, and Kartik Manjhi, demanded a monthly coal supply of 25,000 tonnes to generate sufficient employment. Project officials, including PO D Shiva Das, acknowledged the legitimacy of the demands and pledged to fulfill them promptly. The increased coal supply aims to facilitate loading of a greater number of vehicles and reduce unemployment.

However, Manjhi expressed ongoing dissatisfaction with the project’s treatment of displaced residents, warning of future protests if their demands are not met fully. He emphasized the community’s consistent support for the Birsa project throughout its expansion and relocation processes. The meeting was attended by numerous representatives from both the Birsa Project management and the displaced community.
