**Kolhapur, October 6:** The city of Kolhapur witnessed vibrant celebrations of Champashashthi, marked by the joyous wedding ceremony of Lord Khandoba at the Shivaji Peth Khandoba Temple. The event was characterized by the resounding chants of “Khandobacha Navan Changbhal” and “Yelkot… Yelkot… Jai Malhar,” accompanied by the rhythmic beats of traditional Dhol, Halgi, and Pi-Dabak instruments. The temple premises were illuminated with spectacular fireworks and electric decorations, drawing large crowds of devotees throughout the night.
Earlier in the day, Member of Parliament Shri Shrimant Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj visited the temple and offered prayers. A grand community feast followed. The celebrations included a Haldi and wedding ceremony for Lord Khandoba, organized by the Shivaji Peth Khandoba Devalaya Mitra Mandal. Prominent figures including former mayor Vikram Jarag and Mandal officials were present.
Further celebrations are planned for Saturday, including a Palakhi procession at the Kholkhandoba Temple in Shanivar Peth.
