**Chennai, December 6, 2024** – Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder and Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan announced his withdrawal from a book launch event to prevent exploitation by political rivals. The event, launching “Ellarukkumana Thalaivar: Dr. Ambedkar,” co-published by VCK deputy general secretary Aadhav Arjuna, featured Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay.
In a statement, Mr. Thirumavalavan explained that he chose to withdraw to counter what he perceived as a strategic move by “ideological enemies.” He questioned the publisher, Vikatan, for prioritizing Mr. Vijay’s comfort over his own, suggesting a bias he felt was being used to manipulate the situation. He asserted that he had explicitly told Vikatan he wouldn’t request Mr. Vijay’s disinvitation and wouldn’t embarrass them. However, recognizing his unwitting role in a political game, he opted to withdraw, prioritizing the disruption of his opponents’ plans over personal gain. He concluded by stating that neither he nor his party could be threatened or controlled.
