**Mumbai, India** – Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli’s declining health has garnered significant attention after a video surfaced showing him visibly frail and needing support from childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar at a recent memorial event. The footage, which went viral on social media, depicts Kambli struggling to stand and clinging to Tendulkar for support.
A close friend, Marcus Couto, revealed that Kambli, 52, has battled severe health issues and has undergone rehabilitation treatment a staggering 14 times. Couto stated that despite repeated attempts, Kambli’s health problems persist.
Kambli, once hailed as one of India’s most talented left-handed batsmen, shared a record-breaking 664-run partnership with Tendulkar in a school match in 1988. However, his international career, spanning 17 Tests and 104 ODIs, was significantly curtailed by alcohol abuse.
Following a previous video showing Kambli struggling to walk unaided, members of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning team have pledged financial support for his rehabilitation, contingent upon Kambli seeking professional help. Former fast bowler Balwinder Singh Sandhu confirmed that Kapil Dev and others are ready to cover the costs of his treatment, but Kambli must initiate the process himself. The offer highlights the widespread concern and desire to assist the former cricketing star in his recovery.
