Karaikal, India – The Karaikal district administration launched a new initiative, “Students’ Voice,” on Friday, aiming to provide students with a direct and confidential channel to report concerns. The program involves placing complaint boxes in all government and government-aided schools and colleges across the district.
Collector D. Manikandan explained that the boxes will allow students to report issues such as drug abuse, child safety concerns, child sexual harassment, domestic abuse, and other matters affecting their well-being, without fear of repercussions. The boxes will be collected and reviewed every 15 days by an officer designated by the Collector’s office, ensuring confidentiality. The key to the boxes will be kept solely with the Collector’s office.
The initiative, inspired by Mr. Manikandan’s observations during school inspections, aims to create a safe platform for students to voice their concerns and receive assistance from district authorities. Ten educational institutions received the specially marked complaint boxes on Friday, with plans to distribute them to all schools and colleges in the district next week. Depending on the nature of the complaint, it will be forwarded to the relevant departments for action under the Collector’s direction.
