Fri Dec 06 09:36:45 UTC 2024: ## India Stumbles on Day 1 of Adelaide Test Against Australia

**Adelaide, Australia** – India’s strong start to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy faltered on day one of the second Test against Australia in Adelaide. Despite winning the toss and electing to bat first, India was bowled out for 180 runs in 44.1 overs.

The Indian innings was marked by a shaky start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissed for a duck on the very first ball. While KL Rahul (37) and Shubman Gill (31) offered some resistance, Mitchell Starc wreaked havoc, claiming six wickets, proving a thorn in India’s side. Pat Cummins and Scott Boland also chipped in with two wickets each. Nitish Reddy provided the late fight with a resilient 42.

India made three changes to their playing XI from the first Test, welcoming back Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, and Ravichandran Ashwin. Australia also made one change, replacing the injured Josh Hazlewood with Scott Boland.

The day was further hampered by predictions of rain and thunderstorms, which could impact the remainder of the match. India currently leads the series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Perth. Play will resume on day two.
