**London, UK** – Canadian country-pop artist Lindsay Ell has released her new EP, *Love Myself*, a deeply personal collection of songs exploring self-acceptance and healing. The five-track project, produced by Doug Schadt, features Ell’s signature guitar work, incorporating a diverse range of instruments and sounds. Ell describes the creation process as a “playground” of analogue experimentation.
The EP follows a period of personal challenges for Ell, including a recent diagnosis of an eating disorder. She says the EP was a crucial part of her healing journey, allowing her to express vulnerability and embrace self-love. The response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive, with many sharing how the music has inspired them to seek support and prioritize their mental health.
“It’s one of my favourite things ever to get messages from fans…You’ve inspired me to go talk to a family member or talk to a friend, go get therapy,” Ell shared. The EP’s cover art, depicting Ell with open arms, visually represents this message of openness and self-acceptance.
*Love Myself* also tackles the societal pressures faced by women in the music industry, particularly the challenges of being a female guitarist. Ell, who has toured with Buddy Guy and currently plays alongside Shania Twain, reflects on past experiences where she felt the need to constantly prove herself. However, she celebrates the current wave of female musicians who are reshaping the landscape and inspiring a new generation of guitarists.
Ell’s work with Twain, including a memorable performance at Glastonbury Festival, showcases the resurgence of country music in the mainstream. She sees this, along with the growing number of young guitarists she encounters on shows like *Canada’s Got Talent*, as a positive sign for the future of the instrument.
“I will, till the day I die, try to make guitar solos cool again – and I think they are becoming cool again!” she declared. Ell’s own journey, as documented in *Love Myself*, demonstrates the power of self-compassion and the multifaceted nature of a career in music. She’s currently planning future tours and working on new music, continuing to inspire and empower through her music and her story.
