**Mysuru, December 6, 2024** – Sahaja Samrudha, a Mysuru-based farmer-owned organic seed company, has been awarded the Social Impact Award by the S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai. The award, presented Thursday, recognizes organizations making significant contributions to society, with Sahaja Samrudha winning in the Agriculture and Livelihood category.
The award includes a ₹1 lakh cash prize and a shield. Seema Prasad (founder), Siddanahundi Sreenivas Murthy (director), and K.S. Manju (procurement manager) accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Sahaja Seeds, described as India’s first farmer-owned organic seed company, offers over 200 varieties of rice, millets, pulses, and vegetable seeds. Supported by 56 seed producers across Mysuru, Mandya, and Chamarajanagar, the company focuses on sustainable seed production and distribution. In the 2023-24 financial year, Sahaja Seeds achieved a turnover of ₹1.25 crore and a profit of ₹20 lakh, which was shared among its producer-members.
Co-founder G. Krishna Prasad expressed pride in the national recognition, stating that the award reinforces the company’s mission to revive traditional crops and ensure sustainable prosperity for farmers.
