Fri Dec 06 12:30:02 UTC 2024: ## French Prime Minister Resigns, Macron Vows to Appoint Successor
**PARIS** – French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged to appoint a new Prime Minister in the coming days following the resignation of Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne. Borne’s government was ousted after a no-confidence vote in the French Parliament.
In an address to the nation, Macron rejected calls for his own resignation, stating his intention to remain President until the end of his term in 2027. He sharply criticized both the far-right and far-left for uniting in the opposition to Borne’s government, accusing them of causing instability.
Macron emphasized his priority of forming a new government focused on public welfare and passing the budget. He accused the National Rally party, eyeing the 2027 presidential election, of attempting to exploit the situation for political gain.
